TRAINING

A SC Department of Motor Vehicles certified driving instructor will provide all instruction during the 8 hours of classroom training and 6 hours (or more) of driving. 

The 8-hour classes are held at the Prosperity Depot in downtown Prosperity, SC and the classroom instructor will not only be DMV certified but will also be a state certified law enforcement driving instructor/instructor trainer with more than 20 years in that discipline.

We will pick students up for driving lessons from home, work, or school, anywhere in our service area from Newberry to Ballentine and return them in that area upon completion of the lesson.  If pick up or return of a driver is required from significantly outside the service area, we will do our best to make the most convenient arrangements possible.

 FEES 

1st Mile Driving Academy rates are highly competetive with other driver training schools.  We offer Basic driver training consisting of 8 hours classroom and 6 hours drive time. This meets minimum standards for a 15 or 16 year old driver to obtain a conditional or restricted license.  

Payment can be made prior to OR on the day of class by cash or check, Venmo at @Kevin-1stmile-Gilliam or debit/credit at the link below (Convenience fee applies).

The plan can be customized by adding drive hours in 2 hour increments OR, if you don't need the class but need a little extra time behind the wheel to hone your skills, we can accommodate that as well with drive time only.

CLASS
Our Currently approved driver training classroom site is located at: Prosperity Train Depot
117 Grace St. Prosperity, SC 29127

Classes will be conducted on designated Saturdays, approximately monthly, from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM.

Class size will be limited by the number of driving sessions that can be accommodated during (1) month.
Lunch is included with the class but if a student requires a special diet, it must be provided by the student.

VEHICLES
A dedicated driver training vehicle with automatic transmission, passenger side brake and rearview mirror conforming to state requirements will be used at all times. All vehicles have at least the minimum amount of insurance coverage required by state regulation.

TESTING

1st Mile Driving Academy also offers SCDMV approved license testing services. As a "Third Party Tester", approved instructors administer the road test and provide all needed paperwork for the DMV to issue a license.

The fee for testing is in addition to any other training-related fees.

Road tests are scheduled by appointment only and currently begin in the public parking lot where our parallel park space is located, across from the Prosperity Depot at 117 Grace St. and directly behind Grace Lutheran Church in downtown Prosperity, S.C.
